Having spent most of their careers working in regionally-based enterprises it had become apparent to the founders that, while significant opportunity exists in New Zealand’s provinces there is a distinct lack of support to high growth businesses located in the country’s regions.

This lack of support is not only in capital available to grow businesses, but also in strategic skills that can be applied alongside such capital.

With this need identified, John and Gary launched their first investment fund – Central Capital Regional Fund LP. The fund is currently raising $50 million in capital from New Zealand investors, achieving first close in July 2009, while seeking investment opportunities within the Central North Island region.

The founders have appointed former banking executive, Rory MacGillycuddy, as CEO to manage the firm.
